COURSE OVERVIEW
Start dates: 1st January, & 1st July.
The Professional Research Master’s program in Egyptology enables you to
undertake a research project led by your own interests and interests.
Your project will take one year full-time or two years part-time. It is suitable
if you want to undertake a first research degree as an isolated culmination of
taught studies, or if you are considering undertaking further research in the
form of a PhD.
You will submit a thesis of up to 40,000 words, demonstrating original
research with a significant contribution to the subject area. This is followed
by an oral examination of the thesis (direct audio examination).
Your thesis may relate to ancient Egyptian history, archaeology, religion and
languages encompassing all phases of the Egyptian language including
Greek and Roman Demotic temple texts and hieroglyphs, literature and
culture, including the Ptolemaic and Roman periods.
Working at an elite level, you will be introduced to the fundamental concepts
and interpretive techniques that make up the study of Egyptology.
This program develops the research skills necessary for high-level work in
any field of Egyptology, and you are supported by a range of skills and
training programs available through distance education.
